Why are these so expensive?

They are considered “Heavy Wall” flasks, thus very thick walls and lip.  Such a heavy duty Flask is required when performing the Rice Test and putting the flask under a vacuum, and then shaking or bumping the flask to ensure all the air is removed.  Your typical flask will often break under such operation, making a mess and ruining your test.
