These infrared thermometers should be used as an indicator, not really a means of determining pass-fail. They are easily used to measure asphalt temps on the incoming trucks or the mat. If they begin to indicate a declining temperature or close to the min. spec. temperature, then measure more accurately by inserting a pocket thermometer or the Type K Thermometer.
